SIRRA Surge 1

When we decided to make Surge 1, we saw anopportunity to build a performance monitor from the ground up, to make a
product designed around the rower, how they train and what will benefit them
the most. So that is what we did.

The Surge 1 starting by asking the question, what do rowers need,
how do they train and what will make their experience better?

So in creating the Surge 1 we added all the features you would expect:

Stroke rate + GPS speed + GPS Distance + Distance per stroke + IPX7 Waterproof rating.

And all the other standard features of a
performance monitor. But we went a little further and through understanding what Rowing Institutes are using we developed live readouts of:

Effective work per Stroke, a new metric that takes Distance per stroke and normalises it for rating changes, so that you can compare your stroke effectiveness from rate 20 all the way to race pace.

We want you to match your Surge 1 with your favourite kit and have four awesome colours to choose from:

Black + Blue + Green + Pink.

Knowing how much time rowers spend cross training on bikes, we thought, why not make a product that can do both!

So with a click of button, you can change from rowing mode to cycling mode, one unit that can do both. We also made the unit mount from a universal bike mount, so you can use it in the boat and on the road.

This also provides more mounting options we provide 4 mounts included in with the Surge 1:

Surface mounts + Rigger mounts + Foot plate mount for reverse wing riggers + Handlebar mount for cycling.

But if these are not right for you, being
universal there are plenty of 3rd party options online where you can design the perfect set up for you.

We made sure the Surge 1 was made for the modern day with a connected system including:

Heart rate monitors
Cadence pedal sensor and power meters when in cycling mode.

Plus - we have a free accompanying app that lets you quickly change settings and screens before getting on the water, and most importantly allows you to upload your session instantly to your phone in our accompanying app as well as instant uploads to Training Peaks + Strava.

We spent time understand how we can do the little things right to make it feel seamless and purpose built:

  • The rigger mount has a moulded rubber insert that lets it sit better on riggers.
  • The unit is thinner allowing it to sit closer the rigger and out of the way.
  • We have opted for a 5 segment display allowing you more data when you need it most.

Waterproof USB-C charging so you don’t need a specialist charging port.

Lastly, we partnered with an establish bike computer company Navihood that has produced over 4 million cycling head units in the last 10 years which has provided us with:

High quality manufacturing standards with years of experience and a developed ecosystem.

When we say this product was designed by rowers for rowers we mean it.
